On a lighter note

Suddenly, I do realise that my previous postings has been kind of serious and thought of lightening it up for this one. Everybody's gotta have some kind of entertainment and I thought sharing this light hearted experience may help.

I have been receiving emails lately from various sites like sitepro.com and the likes because I did use a free website submission site a couple of weeks ago. One particular mail did caught my eye, it's the talking character that you can control and place them on your site (whether it be personal or for business) to generate more interests in the visitors that drops by your site.

I was hesitant in the beginning, but since there's a 15 day trial period, why not ? So I clicked order now and was brought to the page where I can choose the different characters for use on my site. This is the fun part, the characters you choose will follow your every movement from the mouse cursor, so being bored, I just fooled around till I drop (almost) dead laughing. Than came the text to speech section, you know... Being a Singaporean, the kind of text I initially typed in are the C*** B**, L** J***, KNNBCCB and all sorts of vulgarities, just to see and hear the character speaking out really "Ang Mo" version of the hokkien vulgarities.

After the fun was over, I guess that this animated speaking character can help me to guide my visitors from my site to where ever I need them to be. Examples are MGC Technologies and here . Have fun !

Heaven or Hell ?

For those that are religiously devoted or are staunch believer of life after death, I have to apologise for this post as what is going to be said here is purely based on my beliefs and opinion.

I've always believed that human being is the only creature hanging around on earth has consciousness, which sets the difference apart from the rest of the living creatures. Having consciousness has a problem, you no longer function naturally as how mother nature has wanted us to be. Instead, feelings and emotions such as love, hate, happiness and sadness came into play. What follows are desires which to name a few, lust, greed, gluttony and etc. I'll talk about this another day.

Coming back to the question of "heaven or hell?" , where would you rather be ? Or is there really heaven and hell ? To me, I believe that the moment we take our last breath on earth, that's the end of ourselves, what we have left behind are our earthly bodies and offsprings (if there is any) to carry on the human race.

The reason why I am writing this post is because of the people I know of had or are still preaching to me about the celestial being who is the all amighty, so ever merciful and compassionate and stuffs like that. In addition, how anyone that dares to leave this supreme being will be condemned in eternal hell and so on and so forth. I mean, it don't make ANY sense at all ! If god is so ever graceful and forgiving, why would he/she need to punish the creature that he "created" to eternal hell ? And by believing in him/her will open up the gates of heaven for you to enter after your death ? If god really were to do this, than I truly believe he is no different from you and me, for we will destroy or create things based on our emotion. Isn't that so ?

My beliefs are to live life to its fullest, helping each other, constantly reminding myself that this life is the one and only. This I believe, will set things right. Let me do a quote from the famous American physicist, Steven Weinberg, Nobel Prize winning theoretical physicist. Weinberg said "Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes Religion."

Ideas are bulletproof

Having watch the movie V for Vendetta again on DVD, somehow or other I realise that there are quite a number of countries do have the pseudo democratic governance as depicted in the show.

Recalling the scenes where all the news reported on TV was fabricated by the order of Adam Sutler makes me sick. In this present day, you'll be able to identify certain countries with controlled media, or I should say, the state media and no one else. If there should have any producers daring enough to voice out alternative views, that person is going to be "hammered". Either to lose his job, family members' be harassed and etc....

I love this statement the best when V said, " The people should not be afraid of the government, but instead, the government should be afraid of the people" . Too bad some countries don't enjoy such liberties. That's where ideas comes in, but just idea alone won't do much help, it has to be coupled with courage, urgency to act and passion, than only it will be bulletproof.

Am I cruel ?

Today is the dateline for an individual to pay up the outstanding amount for an equipment bought from me on the 17th July 2007. Agreement was all stated on the sales invoice where both of us signed on it and apparently, since I am writing this, means that numerous attempts to contact him today was met with equal non response.

As I am currently out of job, any amount of significant value matters a lot to me ($100 and above) and this bugger actually still owe me the sum more than that. I am totally disappointed with this person as I trusted him so much to pay up last month which was agreed upon signing the sales agreement, but right now, he left me helpless as to how am I going to recover back the money.

He left me with little choice but to lodge a report with the local authorities to at least get something done rather than to waste my time and energy searching high and low for him. I do not know what's going to happen to him but that's the least of my concern now. Am I cruel to report him ?

Golden rules

I've compiled a few advices I get while being an entrepreneur and I want to share it with you. Here are the ten of my favourites;

  • Always under promise and over deliver
  • NEVER hire somebody that you cannot fire
  • Every drop of water makes the ocean
  • It's the little thing that makes the difference
  • 75% listen : 25% talk
  • Speak in threes. Eg One people, One nation, One Singapore
  • No risk. No gain.
  • The brightest flame burns the quickest
  • When you fail to plan, you plan to fail
  • Plan like you are going to live forever, but live each day like you are going to die tomorrow

The only thing constant in life is change

Just when you thought everything was well and fine, be it financially, physically or mentally, you may be very wrong.

Take me for an example, I didn't put in the effort to widen my social circle, all ever so reluctant to accept new people as friends, so what do I get ? A bunch of crappy friends that takes advantage of you so every now and than, and still I am stuck with them till NOW. It's kinda painful in the beginning to put yourself in new territory, but come to think of it again, it's better off without those ungratefuls.

Talking about finance, I've not stepped into any salary paying jobs since I got out from National Service (ARMY) which meant to say I've been a self employed for the past 5 years. It's a tough road I can swear to you, but being ever so stubborn, trading my time off for salary was never an alternative until NOW. With screwed up unpaid bills and debts, I guess it's time for me to take a break off business and get a paycheck from the next company that's gonna employ me.

My physical and mental health ain't what it used to be anymore, right now I get tired more easily and tend to forget whatever that needs to be remembered. I can't help getting old in age, but the least I can do is to maintain my health on both of these aspects.

Remember, my dear readers, life is a roller coaster ride, when it goes up, expect it to come down and when it's down, prepare for the ride up. This is life .....

Friend or Foe ?

Do you have friends that calls only when they want something from you ? Or having friends that uses "personal favour" to get you to do something for them even though they know very well its gonna get you into trouble someday or somehow ?

Above all mentioned, you may still consider them as friends, but when you needed the slightest of all help such as a friendly advice needed through the phone is immediately brushed aside or simply not contactable for weeks to months and you get their SMS months later asking whether you wanna have "kopi" ?

Whatever it is, if you do have "friends" like this, it's best to delete their number off from your directory and brain memory. It's not worth keeping as the only time they'll call you is to ask for "personal favour". I'd rather keep name cards of business acquaintances where any trade or deal, business or personal, can be fairly dealt with.

For the more sinister ones that'll tell you all kinds of sweet nothings just to satisfy their aims or goals and hide the nasty consequences from you, I have something to say to people like this, F**K YOU ! You even have the cheek to call me up and teach me how to live my life ? Yeah, F**K YOU again. Get lost !

For friends that even bother to answer my phone call, I am very appreciative of you, no matter how insignificant you feel about those short little advice, to me, at least you bother. Thanks a million !

For those f**kers who only know how to satisfy their life, go get your girlfriend, wife, brothers, sisters or relatives to achieve your shitty desires. I think they deserve to help you more than I do. Thanks a million too !

Myths Vs Truth

I read this on today's Straits Times article regarding leadership and I find it most appropriate to share with my readers here (for the benefit for those that didn't manage to get hold of today's copy of the Straits Times).

Myth No.1 : Position or title equates to leadership.
Truth : People do tend to equate position or title to an individual leadership qualities, especially in Singapore's context. The truth is, there are a great number of people running organisations today who may not be good or even acceptable leaders !

Myth No.2 : Tenure or longevity equates to effective leadership capabilities.
Truth : Any success you might have had could have been due to luck, timing, pure hard work, will power or and combination of these. Its definitely not relating to the tenure in the organisation for over numerous years which literally does not mean you are any where near being an effective leader.

Myth No.3 : Leadership is an education process.
Truth : Trust, respect and confidence are earned and not anything which you can learn in a classroom.

Myth No.4 : You can build leadership attributes through books and related literature.
Truth : You can read all the books on leadership but until you are most willing to let go of some of your beliefs, attitudes, opinions, prejudices or paradigms and have all the knowledge on leadership in the world, you can still fail as a leader. Studying ain't enough, it takes understanding, wisdom and precise execution.

Myth No.5 : Senior citizens with greying hair are the most effective leaders.
Truth : I know of many young individuals who are in their twenties having outstanding leadership qualities as well.

Myth No.6 : To be a leader, you have to be in charge of something or somebody.
Truth : Being a leader is not about being in charge of anything or anybody at all. You can be a MacDonald counter girl and still have leadership attitude on your roles and responsibilities.

Myth No.7 : In order to lead, you need to have followers.
Truth : Leadership doesn't mean you have to be in front of a group, you can also be in anywhere working in a department alone and still display leadership qualities.

The truth hurts ...

Let's cite an example, if your name is Lim Chwee Bai as stated in your identity document and you let yourself be known as Pokemon Lim to whoever that comes into contact with you, be it friends, relatives or business acquaintance, who the f**k that reads any posts knows which Pokemon Lim is intended ?

If now I write things like " Bobo Goh is a failure, who the hell does he think he is ? Filing defamation suits against anyone who questions him . I don't think being a politician in power should do things like this, it just creates more suspicion to his character " . And now, who the hell knows who is Bobo Goh ?

If things written on the net sounds hauntingly similiar to you, please do reflect on yourself before jumping behind an MG(machine gun) and start firing innocent people. It only shows how desperately you want all your dirty linens to be disposed off. The truth hurts, my friend...

A new beginning

Dear people,

This blog is created only after due considerations to blog again after a drastic event that took place a couple of weeks back. And so ...right now, any person that I may blog about will be kept anonymous or given pseudonym just in case I get threatened with lawsuits and forced to tear down the blog again.

Life is pretty sucky at the moment, but it's not gonna put me down in anyway because I believe in my principles for telling the truth and not flatteries that some people use to suck up to their friends, colleagues, business partners or bosses. Neither do I cook up stories to intentionally injure anyone's reputation, if it's the truth, than it's the truth.

The shitty thing in life is when you disclose the ugly truth of some rich f**kers, they'll come after you and make sure you swallow them back. The classic case would be TT Durai's case while he was still with NKF when he succesfully claimed against whistle blowers for attempting to uncover his stained integerity with defamation lawsuits.

My advise is, if you are just another averagely ordinary person who just wanna speak your mind about somebody, do it in your own privacy while you take a dump in the toilet or wherever possible. Alternatively, you can still write in your blog but please use fictitious names just to stay away from trouble.

Time's up, I've got business to attend to. See you guys around.
